What to put in a quote
A clear quote avoids arguments later. It should say exactly what you will do, what it costs, and what is not included.
The essentials
Include your business name and contact details, the customer's name and the job address, the date, a description of the work, a price for each item and the total. Show VAT separately if you charge it.
Quote or estimate?
A quote is a fixed price that you are expected to stick to, while an estimate is a best guess that can change. Say which one you are giving. If the price might change, for example if hidden problems turn up, say so in the notes.
Terms worth stating
Say how long the quote is valid, when payment is due, whether you take a deposit and what is excluded, such as extra materials, skip hire or making good. Late payers can be charged interest, so see the late payment interest calculator.
