Enter the room size and your prices to see the plaster you need, the hours involved and a suggested quote for skimming.

How to price a plastering job

For a skim, work out the wall and ceiling area, then the plaster from the thickness you apply. Walls are the room perimeter multiplied by the ceiling height, less doors and windows.

How much plaster?

A thin skim is usually a couple of millimetres thick. Coverage varies between products, so use the figure printed on the bag when you have it, and change the plaster-used setting in the advanced options to match.

Time and preparation

Plastering speed depends on the surface and the person doing it. Masking up, applying PVA or a bonding coat, fitting beads and taping joints all take time, which is why preparation is a separate figure per room.

Drying and finishing

Plaster needs to dry before painting, and that delay affects when the next trade can start. Mention it in your quote so customers know what to expect.
